what to wear for the home & garden tour

is coming up in two weeks,
and a few of my friends and I are
already thinking about what to wear.

Comfortably cute outfits are a must!
Also, high heels and hand bags are not allowed
in the homes, so those are two more things
to consider when planning our look!

Flats, sandals or wedges are perfect footwear
for touring, as there will be a bit of walking.

Here are a few looks from last year.
Colorful looks seen at

the Barclay Butera after party.

Chairwomen, Heidi and Marena, on the left,

chose pretty feminine dresses for the tour.

After a visit to Heather's new closet,
the girls and I put together some fun fahion looks
 for this year's home tour.

Cynthia is a Stella & Dot stylist,
so she has the luxury of having great accessories
available at her fingertips.
This is the outfit she put together,
an all white look set off by colorful jewelry and extras.

Purses are not allowed to be brought into the houses,
but they’re handy at the breakfast reception,
luncheon and afterparty.

A great option is the tech wallet, pictured above.
It's great for holding your cell phone and car key,
and has a handy wrist strap.

I just ordered mine in leopard!
It's perfect for the home tour.

Heather chose a more edgy look with a faux leather
shell and skinny denim jeans from CAbi.

She glammed up this look with classic flats
from Banana Republic and a
statement necklace from Stella & Dot.

Renee's look is girly and chic.
This blue and white CAbi shirt dress is so comfortable,
and I love how she used complimentary orange accessories
to make the colors really pop!

Wedges are a great option for the day.
They don't cause any damage to floors,
and they’re super cute!

real housewives of new york's jewelry

Have you seen this week's episode of rhony?
I'm a little obsessed with
Carole, Heather and Kristen's style of wearing layered  jewelry.
They do it so well!

Look at how they layer at least 3-5 necklaces!
{and bracelets.}

It's a great look for summer!

such great mixing and matching

what a fun green dress, Carole!

This look of
mixing beads and delicate jewelry
on Kristen is my favorite.

Here's Heather again sporting lots of layers of silver.

Kristen always looks great!

Love the turquoise earrings with the red dress!

Sonja seemed a little stressed out
with everyone, especially Ramona...

and what about that outfit?!

Do you hide your shoes when you go to a beach  party?

Cute earrings Ramona!
They remind me of these
Seychelles earrings I have
by Stella & Dot

LuAnn's turquoise necklace is pretty, too.
I am so drawn to that color!

Behind the scenes beach party photos from Bravo.

One great thing about the housewives shows,
the previews are almost better than the show itself!
Stay tuned for some pinot tossing next week!

my friday five

1. The Newport Beach Film Festival
started yesterday,
and one of the many theaters hosting the festival
is the Lido Theater.
It's a favorite of mine,
and was built during the 1930's.
It has beautiful art deco style
and a great provenance.

Here is a little fun bit of history from their page:
“The Lido Theatre was opened in 1938,
and the first film it played was
Bette Davis in "Jezebel".
The reason for that was that Davis
lived nearby in Laguna Beach
and traveled by the site daily.
Upon stopping onsite, she told the owner
"they had better open with my picture."
And they did.
Davis also is responsible for
the sitting parlor in the ladies room
that harkens back to a time
 when women sat and smoked
and chatted while arranging
makeup in the mirrors.“

Many were interviewed on the
red carpet last night.
 The Newport Edwards theater was
hosting the fun
red carpet festivities.

2. Downton Abbey season 5
started filming this week in England.
Michelle Dockery as Lady Mary Crawley

3. New York Times list
of home &  garden tours
We made the list!

happy earth day!

Celebrate the Earth everyday with global map décor.

Maps add great color and texture to a room.

There are so many creative ways to use maps.

Which one's your favorite?

my friday five

A few of my favorite things this week...

1.Metallic-Dipped Easter Eggs

To make these Easter egg designs, use metallic paint pens after dying your eggs. Simply draw whatever patterns you wish. I like the polka dots, stripes and fish scales.

2. Love this door color, Hazel
I spotted this charming door in the neighborhood.  Great color and Easter greeting!

3. Cute summer robes
Ring Ching Ching
On my mother's day list, fleur de lys, please!

4. butterscotch bird nests

5. driftwood cross

A beautiful driftwood crosses
with seashells and sea glass
